Ed believes passionately that strong, trusted, professional relationships hold the key to confidence in safeguarding. He is looking to become embedded within your organisation to nurture relationships with an aim to develop your organisation's safeguarding arrangements.
This will be achieved by the following:
Supervision
Professional supervision is central to effective safeguarding. Being a safeguarding lead or leader/decision maker working with children can be pressured and, at times, stressful. So, whatever capacity you work with children, effective supervision helps you to do your job well.
Supervision with Ed will involve talking through the impact the work has on you personally, as well as exploring decision-making. Most importantly, it is hoped that supervision will help you to achieve the best possible outcomes for children. Supervisees will be encouraged to consider what they would like to talk about beforehand.
Supervisor: Ed
Duration: 1 hour
Frequency: Fortnightly or monthly depending on the supervisee's preference.
Consultation
Safeguarding leads and decision makers are invited to request an ad-hoc 'no names' consultation with Ed at any time between 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday. A request can be made via email to [email protected] and a Microsoft Teams meeting will be set up shortly afterwards. It will be recorded on a consultation form and emailed back to the organisation securely.
A no names consultation enables professionals to talk through issues and concerns they may have for a child they are working with that is not already open to children's social care, does not have a social worker, and where there is not an immediate safeguarding concern. Parental consent is not required as the consultation is done without disclosing any personal details of the child or family.
Ed has previously held the position of local authority designated officer and has a wealth of experience guiding senior leaders with their proportionate application of the LADO criteria and through the allegation management process. Consultations relating to queries about the LADO criteria and process can be requested with Ed via email to [email protected] between 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday. A Microsoft Teams meeting will be set up shortly afterwards. It will be recorded on a consultation form and emailed back to the organisation securely.
Compliance
Ed has a detailed and up to date knowledge of statutory guidance underpinning responsibilities of professionals within education, health, and social care settings. To ensure that children are safe and thriving, it is important that compliance with statutory guidance is understood and maintained by everyone.
The expectations and recommendations laid out in the statutory guidance below will underpin all aspects of Ed's work with your organisation depending what sector you are in. Individual refresher coaching sessions can be requested for an in-depth exploration of a particular statutory guidance, looking at it's origin, it's aims, and how it should be applied in your organisation.
